Indian cricketer named RCB’s new captain: Move to win at any cost

Former Delhi captain and Mumbai batsman Shreyas Iyer made his Test debut against New Zealand last year. However, Iyer was unlucky not to be in the final XI for the three – Test series against South Africa. His rise as a national player was due to his performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

There are reports that Shreyas Iyer may lead Royal Challengers Bangalore in the upcoming IPL. Iyer will replace Kohli as captain. RCB is trying to acquire the player at any cost in the upcoming mega auction. Meanwhile, Kolkata has also netted for Iyer. Shreyas had earlier stated that he wanted to play as captain.

Moreover, Shreyas was approached by the new IPL franchises, Ahmedabad and Lucknow. However, reports suggest that the player has stepped down after the franchises made it clear that he would not be captaining. Iyer has taken Delhi to the playoffs for the 2019 IPL season. And then to the final. However, he missed the start of last season due to injury. With this, Rishabh captained the ball. With Delhi putting out a good performance under the ball, Delhi decided not to retain Shreyas.

Meanwhile, the mega star auction ahead of the 15th edition of the IPL is expected to take place on February 12 and 13, 2022. The auction is likely to be postponed due to Kovid. This is the first mega star auction after 2018. With the addition of Ahmedabad and Lucknow teams, the number of IPL teams has increased to ten this year. There are indications that the increase in the number of teams will also increase the excitement of the auction.

Will Shreyas Iyer captain Virat Kohli at Royal Challengers Bangalore this season?
