Indigenization in more areas in Saudi Arabia, including transportation; Backlash to Malayalees | King Salman of Saudi Arabia | Gulf News | News from Middle East

Foreigners, including Malayalees, should be repatriated to Saudi Arabia in retaliation. Saudiisation in Saudi Arabia will cover a wide range of sectors, including transportation, aviation, and opticals.

The new decisions were announced by the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Ahmed Sulaiman Al Rajhi. The decision was taken to give more opportunities to the youth of the country and increase their active participation in the national economy. It is estimated that this will create more than 33,000 jobs for the natives.

The decision to repatriate aviation workers will be implemented in two phases. The first phase will start on March 15, 2023. Localization will be 100 per cent in the co-pilot, air controller and air relay sectors, 60 per cent in the air transport pilot sector and 60 per cent in the flight attendant sector.

The second phase will start on March 4, 2024. About 70 per cent of the air transport pilot sector and 60 per cent of the air hostesses will be localized.

From March 18, 2023, 50 per cent of the spectacles companies will be nationalized. Jobs include Medical Optics Technician, Physical Laboratory Technician, and Light & Optics. Indigenization will be implemented in two phases in the vehicle inspection sector. The first phase will be 50 per cent repatriation and the second phase 100 per cent repatriation.
