The Indonesian Disaster Management Authority has released the gruesome footage of the volcanic eruption. The previous volcanic eruption was in January. In 2017 and 2019, the volcano erupted. Semeru, which erupted twice a year, is now in a state of disarray.

Airlines have been warned to be cautious as the ash rises to an altitude of 15,000 meters. The bomber struck shortly after 2.30pm local time. Authorities said entry was banned within a five-kilometer radius of the mountain.

The lava flowed rapidly to nearby areas. No deaths have been reported from the area so far. The evacuation of people from the affected areas continues. There are currently 13 active volcanoes in Indonesia. Semeru is located at an elevation of 3,676 m above sea level.
