INDvNZ: Kohli will return to Mumbai, who will be left out? Team management in confusion

Kanpur: Shreyas Iyer’s century in the first Test against New Zealad has caused confusion in the Indian camp. It is not clear who will be left out when Virat Kohli returns for the next Test in Mumbai.

Virat Kohli says he needs five bowlers to win the Test format. Six batsmen, including the wicket-keeper, are in the final XI. Apart from openers Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas Iyer also played in the Kanpur Test.

Pujara returned with 26 and Rahane with 35 while Shreyas completed his maiden century. Who will be left out of Kohli’s return for the second Test starting next month at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium? Either Rahane should be replaced and a generational change should be announced.

Or Shreyas, who scored a century in Kanpur, should be left out. Pujara could be left out of the batting order and Mayank could be replaced by Pujara with Kohli, Rahane and Shreyas.

In any case, Rahul Dravid has a responsibility to make the crucial decision ahead of the tour of South Africa.
