This project is to discover and spread ripple 5G convergence services by utilizing the characteristics of Ieum 5G and 5G-related technologies in major public and private sectors, and to provide opportunities for application of Ieum 5G-related technologies and business participation.
Ieum 5G is a communication network that utilizes 5G frequencies in units of specific areas such as land and buildings so that operators who want 5G convergence services can directly build 5G networks.
A total of 48 billion won was invested in the public and private sectors this year to demonstrate a total of 11 projects, including 7 public sector and 4 private sector, consisting of 3 demonstration projects.
In the meantime, the government has demonstrated by applying the 5G service model to smart industrial complexes, healthcare, and ports based on 5G commercial networks.
This year, 36 consortiums proposed the task. A total of 42 companies and institutions have been selected from 11 consortiums, including 7 in the public sector and 4 in the private sector, to begin the demonstration of Ieum 5G.
Among them, the public sector demonstration project, which invests 40 billion won in seven tasks, is promoted to promote digital transformation by applying 5G convergence services in fields such as medical care, logistics, and energy.
8 billion won will be invested in the four private sector projects to enhance vitality throughout the 5G industry ecosystem and lead the 5G 28GHz market.
In particular, through this project, various companies and institutions such as equipment manufacturers, SI companies, and telecommunication companies will participate to demonstrate the Ieum 5G service and lay the foundation for the expansion of the Ieum 5G industry ecosystem.
In addition, the ‘(tentative name) 5G Alliance’ will be launched at the end of August to create a forum for cooperation among participants and prepare a roadmap for expansion by major industry fields.
Consulting to strengthen the ecosystem and new business models led by the private sector will also be discovered to promote domestic and overseas expansion.
