This year’s materials and parts technology development project is worth 937.56 billion won, an increase of 11.5 percent from last year’s budget. From this, 52.5 billion won will be invested in the first 96 new aid tasks that will be announced from the 8th to the 9th of next month.

First, 21 tasks and KRW 13.4 billion will be newly issued to stabilize the supply chain of key industries.

It supports the development of technologies such as eco-friendly anode materials, electrolytes, and cells for lithium iron phosphate batteries, highly corrosion resistant lithium refractory ceramic materials and parts for the manufacture of secondary batteries, thermal management adhesives for vehicles, and a cell to pack a systems battery.

In addition, 41 tasks and 19.49 billion won will be issued anew to secure source technology for new high-tech industries in the future.

It supports the development of technologies such as key silicon-based passive components for 2.5D/3D packaging, materials for customized biotransplantation and artificial biomimetics, very high frequency low-loss materials and communication components for 6G , and integrated avionics systems for AAVs.

In order to develop next-generation technologies necessary for ESG response, such as carbon neutrality and waste resource recycling, 34 tasks and KRW 19.63 billion will be newly issued.

It supports the development of technologies such as environmentally friendly magnesium smelting using waste resources, a wind power propulsion system for environmentally friendly ships to reduce carbon emissions, and frame and stack gaskets where sealing and sub-gaskets for hydrogen electric vehicles are integrated . .

The 96 tasks announced this time were chosen through technical committees for each industry sector and industry-university-research-institution public hearings, focusing on 1,552 cases received during the industrial demand survey between August 8 and September 26 the last year, and the recent demand for technology development by industry-university-research institutions is actively reflected. .

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy receives a business plan for the project through the website of the Korea Industrial Technology Evaluation Institute ( https://itech.keit.re.kr ) by the 9th of the following month, and thereafter , through evaluation by related experts, the host research organization intends to select.

Yang Ki-wook, director general of industrial supply chain policy at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, said, “This new R&D project reflects the government’s strong will to unwaveringly promote strengthening the competitiveness of the general manager.” Government Research and Development investment will faithfully play the role of priming water so that it can be built.”
