IPL 2021 | ‘Batsmen cannot be blamed’; Sanju Samson reacts to Mumbai’s miserable defeat

The Rajasthan Royals lost by eight wickets to Mumbai Indians in the crucial match of the IPL. With the win, Mumbai Indians have maintained their play-off hopes. After losing the toss and opting to bat first, Rajasthan chased down the target of 91 by losing just two wickets in 8.2 overs. With the win, Mumbai jumped to fifth position with 12 points.

Yashaswi and Lewis started hinting that Rajasthan would get off to a good start but it did not work out. Rajasthan scored 90 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Now Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson has come up with a response after the defeat. Sanju said the pitch in Sharjah was different and the batsmen could not be blamed.

‘There are different pitches in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. The pitch that supports the batting in Abu Dhabi. That was not the case in Sharjah. Batting in the first innings was arduous. That is why the batsmen cannot be blamed, ”said Sanju.

Sanju added that although the wicket was better in the second innings than in the first, Mumbai ‘s batting was second to none. His 25-ball half-century helped Mumbai to an easy victory. Ishant Kishan scored his first fifty of the season against the Royals.

Sangakkara, meanwhile, said it was not a matter of the pitch or the toss in the match and that it was their fault. ‘We were 42-1 in the powerplay. Similarly, the plan was to go ahead with at least seven wickets in 13-14 overs. But could not adapt to the situation. Mumbai bowled very well. We lost a lot of wickets and could not attack at any stage. We made more mistakes than the pitch and the toss, ”said Sangakkara.

‘Pitches like the one in Sharjah will test the flexibility and mind of the batter. This is not a T20 compatible pitch. Playing on a pitch like this is also an experience. We are waiting to see how these pitches will turn out for the Twenty20 World Cup, ”Sangakkara added.
