IPL 2022: Gujarat Titans beat debutants by a huge margin

Mumbai: The Gujarat Titans beat the Lucknow Super Giants by a huge margin in their IPL debut. Chasing a target of 159, the Gujarat Titans reached the target with five wickets in hand with two balls to spare. Rahul Tiwatiya (40 not out off 24 balls) and Abhinav Manohar (15 not out off 7 balls) were the main contributors to the Titans’ victory.

Gujarat needed 58 runs in the last five overs to win. David Miller and Rahul Tiwattia put on 22 runs in the 16th over off Deepak Hooda. The Titans narrowed the gap to 17 runs in the 17th over when Ravi Bishnoi bowled.

Gujarat were under pressure when they lost David Miller (30 off 21 balls) for 9 in the 18th over off Avesh Khan. Gujarat needed 20 runs in the last two overs and 11 runs in the last over bowled by Avesh Khan.

Abhinav Manohar took the pressure off Gujarat with a boundary off the first two balls of Avesh Khan’s last over. Tiwati finally made his IPL debut with a four-ball boundary. Lucknow Super Giants 158-6 in 20 overs and Gujarat Titans 161-5 in 19.4 overs.
