IPL 2022: Rohit Sharma suffers setback after losing first match

Mumbai: Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians suffered a major setback after losing the first match. Skipper Rohit Sharma was fined for a low over rate. IPL officials have demanded a fine of Rs 12 lakh. If the second offense is committed, the captain will be fined Rs 24 lakh and the other team members will be fined Rs 6 lakh each. Further, if he does not complete 20 overs within the stipulated time, he will face a ban from the match.

Rohit Sharma was fined a low over rate during the match against Delhi Capitals. In the match, Mumbai lost by four wickets. After losing the toss and opting to bat, Mumbai scored 177 for five in the allotted overs. In reply, Delhi chased down the target by six wickets in 18.2 overs.

Lalit Yadav (48) and Akshar Patel (38) were the main contributors to Delhi’s victory. The 18th over was crucial in Delhi’s victory. Akshar and Lalith combined for 24 runs in Daniel Sams’ over. Malayalee batsman Basil Thampi took three wickets for Mumbai.
