Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Punjab Kings in the first match of the Indian Premier League yesterday. Hyderabad beat Punjab by seven wickets. With the win, the Sunrisers jumped to fourth place with eight points. Batting after losing the toss, Punjab were all out for 151 in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, Sunrisers Hyderabad chased down the target with seven balls to spare.

Liam Livingston’s solo fight helped Punjab cross the 150 mark. Livingston hit 60 off 33 balls, including five fours and four sixes. Shikhar Dhawan replaces injured Mayank Agarwal in Punjab. He lost the first four wickets for 61 runs. Dhawan, who scored eight off 11 balls, was bowled by Johnson. Natarajan sent Prabhasimran Singh back in the fifth over. While Punjab stood at 48, Bairstow was also out. Liam Livingston and Shah Rukh Khan then combined for 151 at the crease. Punjab lost the last four wickets in the last over of fast bowler Umran Malik. Umran Malik took four wickets for 28 runs.

In reply, Sunrisers’ Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi, Aidan Markram and Nicholas Puran found the rhythm at the crease. Aidan Markram (41 off 27 balls) and Nicholas Puran (35 off 30 balls) were unbeaten. Rahul Tripathi (34 off 22 balls) and Abhishek Sharma (31 off 25 balls) were the mainstays of the Hyderabad batting line-up.
