Jaipur: When the final list of players retained by the IPL franchises came out, only Rajasthan Royals kept Sanju Samson, Jose Buttler and Yashaswi Jaiswal in the squad. Prominent Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer were left out. The decision of the Rajasthan Royals management came as a shock to many. Rajasthan Royals director Kumar Sangakkara is answering the question as to why the English superstars were left out.

Sangakkara said the decision was taken after deliberating on how many matches the two would be available for. He explained … “There is no doubt that Joffre and Stokes are the best players in world cricket. It was a difficult decision to avoid them. Stotox is absolutely a match winner. Arguably the best all-rounder I’ve seen in recent times. Joffrey, on the other hand, excels in all three formats. It is safe to say that there is no other bowler as talented as him. But there are a number of things to consider when retaining players.

The availability of players is important in that. The key question is how many matches they can play in the IPL. The players are just as frustrated as the franchise in splitting the two. I think the players will understand the reason for not keeping up. All factors need to be considered, ”Sangakkara explained. This was revealed in a video released by the Rajasthan Royals through their official social media account.

Sanju Samson will lead the team in the coming season as well. Rajasthan retained the Malayalee wicketkeeper for Rs 14 crore. Butler will get Rs 10 crore. Four crore to Jaiswal.
