It can come up with a ban; The Premier League accuses Manchester City of financial irregularities

The English Premier League authorities have accused Manchester City of breaching the league’s financial rules. Between 2009 and 2018, the club has been accused of breaking various financial regulations. Criticism is that they did not provide accurate information about the club’s financial position, including sponsorship income. Allegation of non-disclosure of related parties’ income and operating expenses.

Another criticism is that full details of the trainer were not provided. League officials also accused the coaches of not disclosing the pay for the seasons between 2009-10 and 2012-13.

Another accusation is that the players were not given full details of their salaries between 2010 and 2016. League officials also said that an independent commission had been appointed to investigate such offences. The investigation, which began in 2019, has now been referred to an independent commission. But Manchester City said in a statement that it was surprised by the allegations and welcomed the independent commission’s investigation.

This commission will have the power to ban the club from league matches. The commission can take actions such as deducting points, ordering the rescheduling of league matches, suspending or dismissing the club, ordering compensation, canceling players’ recognition and taking other punitive measures.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport overturned a two-year ban imposed on Manchester City by UEFA’s financial governing body in February 2020.
