It is not up to the minister to decide who to bring together: Shamsir against Riyaz

Thiruvananthapuram: Criticism against Public Works Minister PA Mohammad Riaz at the CPM Parliamentary Party meeting. AN Shamsir criticized the MLAs for telling the assembly not to meet the contractors. Shamsir openly said that it was not up to the minister to decide whom to meet. Mohammad Riyaz did not respond to criticism at the meeting. The parliamentary party meeting was convened in the absence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Shamsir was angered by a remark made by Mohammad Riyaz during a question and answer session in the Assembly on October 7. MLAs need to look at things in their own constituency and solve problems. For that, many in the constituency will have to come together and meet the minister. It is not up to the minister to decide whom to bring together. Shamsir said that it was not right to say so arrogantly and did not mention the name of Mohammad Riyaz.

Shamsir ended by reminding the party’s guideline that everyone should be more humble in the event of a continuing rule. CPM Assembly Party Secretary TP Ramakrishnan, who presided over the meeting, came out in defense of Riyaz. TP Ramakrishnan tried to cool the scene by saying that he had said so in order to avoid a situation of corruption. But Muhammad Riyaz remained silent.

The words of Mohammad Riyaz, who did not even bother the Opposition, were criticized at the CPM Parliamentary Party meeting. In his introductory speech, K Radhakrishnan, who is also the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, had said that the new members should study the issues in the Assembly. Later, Azhikode MLA KV Sumesh alleged that he was learning as much as he could and was not getting enough information from the offices of some ministers.
