Semi-large SUV electric concept car ‘SEVEN’

Ioniq 7 direction prediction… “Take advantage of the use of space”

“What is the car on the far right?” This kind of curiosity arose among people who watched the video released by Hyundai Motor Company on the 16th. This is the main promotional video of the Qatar Hyundai Motor Company 2022 World Cup campaign, and among the three cars that appeared side by side at the end of the video, one unfamiliar car appeared apart from the Ioniq 5 and 6.
According to Hyundai Motor Company on the 22nd, the vehicle in question is the concept car “SEVEN,” which was unveiled for the first time at the “LA Motor Show” held in Los Angeles (LA) last November. Seven is Hyundai Motor’s electric mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV), which is aiming for mass production in 2024.
The name Concept Car Seven seems to have the future name ‘Ioniq 7’ in mind. Given that it was released alongside the Ioniq 5 and 6 in the main Qatar World Cup campaign video, it seems very likely that Seven’s actual car will be called the Ioniq 7.

Make the most of space… Reject common 1st, 2nd and 3rd row seating arrangement
Seven were also introduced at the Busan Motor Show held in July. Since it is a concept car, it may differ from the actual mass-produced car. However, since Hyundai Motor Company inherited the design of the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 very similar to the concept car recently, it is expected that the Seven will also be released in a form that is not much different from mass-produced cars.
Hyundai Motor Company only revealed some of Seven’s technical information. First of all, the design is expected to be 3200mm, the highest in the segment, by maximizing the wheelbase to maximize the use of space. It is 300 mm longer than the wheelbase (2900 mm) of Hyundai’s mid-sized SUV Palisade.

Seven is expected to get E-GMP, a platform dedicated to Hyundai Motor Group’s electric vehicles. The original internal structure is of particular interest. Looking at the Seven photos released by Hyundai Motor Company, the passenger side door is a pillarless coach door with the B-pillar removed, creating a wider and more comfortable interior space. It is explained that it will completely break the stereotype of placing first, second and third row seats inside the vehicle by maintaining a flat floor up to the third row.

The foldable joystick designed for the autonomous driving phase is also a point. Hyundai suggested that the Seven’s driver’s seat has folding controls that can be hidden away when not in use. Thanks to this, as the steering wheel disappears, the use of space increases, and seats can also be arranged freely according to driving methods such as autonomous driving. A built-in mini-fridge, a shoe care space (shoe management), and a ceiling-mounted roof display are also devices that double the convenience and driving pleasure of drivers and passengers.

Qatar World Cup sponsor Hyundai Motor Company kicks off ‘eco-friendly car’ promotion
It is also meaningful that Hyundai Motor Company featured Se7en in the Qatar World Cup campaign video. Hyundai Motor Company has sponsored six World Cups since the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup, but this time it provided 316 eco-friendly cars for the first time.
In particular, since April this year, the ‘Goal of the Century’ campaign has been underway to present a carbon-neutral message to the world. At the same time, it is understood that everything from the electric car Ioniq 5 and 6, which are representative of environmentally friendly cars, to the Seven concept car, which is very likely to become the Ioniq 7, appeared in the World Cup Qatar. campaign video.
He also threw a symbolic message that he intends to drive further in the change to electrification. Hyundai Motor Company has set a goal to increase the share of electric vehicle sales from 6% last year to 45% by 2030 by expanding its lineup, including commercial vehicles as well as passenger vehicles.
