On the 23rd, traffic jams occurred on public roads in Shenyang due to the disappearance of traffic lights, and elevators stopped in condominiums and buildings, water was cut off, and food could not be prepared or toilets could not be flushed. The power outage was as short as 5 hours, and as long as more than a dozen hours, and the water outage lasted for 2 days. In some cases, mobile phones could not be charged and electronic payments could not be made, or relatives could not be contacted. I can’t work because I can’t use a computer. The school is closed. Some stores are now open for candles.
Due to the sudden suspension of power supply without notice, some factories and houses stopped using coal-fired equipment and ventilation systems for heating exhaust, causing accidents such as carbon monoxide poisoning. For example, on September 24, at Liaoning Xiaohui Foundry Co., Ltd., an exhaust system was shut down due to a power outage, and 23 workers were taken to a hospital in Liaoyang City due to carbon monoxide poisoning caused by gas generated from a blast furnace for casting.
Sudden power outage hits economic activity and civil life
Local residents had not received any explanation from the local authorities about the power outage.
On September 26, Jilin City Shinboku Water Affairs Co., Ltd. (water company) issued the following public notice on WeChat’s official account.
