Jai Bhim | Actor Surya thanks Minister Mohammad Riyaz for his congratulations

Actor Surya thanks Minister Mohammad Riyaz for congratulating Jai Bhim on the film. Actor Surya took to Twitter to thank Minister Riyaz. ‘Thank you sir, glad you liked our movie’ – Actor Surya tweeted. The actor thanked Mohammad Riyaz for sharing his tweet, “Strong narration, strong political statement, well done.”

Meanwhile, actor Surya was threatened by the Vanniyar community following the film Jaibhim. Police have cordoned off Surya’s residence in Chennai T Nagar. The police took precautionary measures after the Vanniyar community leaders threatened to attack Surya.

The Vanniyar gang had sent notices to Surya, Jyothika and director TJ Gnanaveli alleging that the film portrayed the Vanniyar community badly. They want an apology for misrepresenting the community and a payment of Rs 5 crore.

The Vanniyar team said that they have failed to portray their category even while acknowledging the progressive aspects of the film starring Surya. Unfortunately, one of the villains who brutally tortured an unfortunate tribal youth is portrayed in the film as a member of the Vanniyar community, the lawyer alleges in the notice.

Pattali Makkal party chief Dr. Ramadoss also came out in support of the Vanniyar community. But actor Surya had responded that there is no need to seek fame by hurting a person. Actor Surya also thanked VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan for his support for the oppressed communities.

Since its release in early November, the film has been critically acclaimed for telling the story of the Irular tribe, an ethnic group that suffers indescribable hardships in Tamil society. The film tells the life of a dark tribal youth who is beaten to death at a police station for not confessing to a crime he did not commit.

The Jai Bhim controversy has been a hot topic among Tamil filmmakers. Most of the producers have come out in support of actor Surya. National award winning producer Asuri’s producer Vetri Maran said in a tweet, “… it is natural for these films to upset those who do not want to change the status quo.”

Other film personalities had also come out in support of actor Surya. The hashtag #IstandwithSuriya is trending on Twitter and has received thousands of tweets in support of the hashtag.
