Jeddah is raining; Damage assessment has begun Jeddah flood damage assessment

Jeddah: Damage assessment committees have started counting the items damaged in the heavy rain that lashed the city on Thursday. An electronic method, similar to the system used in the country’s population census, is adopted to collect data that assesses damage to natives and foreigners.

After presenting the necessary documents before the Damage Assessment Committee which consists of various government agencies, the committee will proceed with the damage assessment procedure. The committee’s data collection took place in the Al Aj Weed areas of the city over two days.

Heavy rain started last Thursday morning and lasted for about eight hours. Because of this, all parts of the city were flooded and there was a strong current. Hundreds of vehicles were swept away by heavy rain. A number of shops were also damaged by water.

City officials said that the same compensation will be given to the victims of the Jeddah floods in 2009. Jeddah Municipality has also announced that all projects related to water runoff in the city will be evaluated.
