Jeong Jin-sang’s detention was extended once… Prosecution is expected next week at the latest

Jeong Jin-sang, who is under investigation by the prosecution on charges of bribery, has once been extended for the head of the political coordination office in the representative office of the Democratic Party. The prosecution is expected to commit Chief Chung to trial sometime next week when the remand period ends.

According to the legal community on the 27th, the Anti-Corruption Investigation Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office 1 (Chief Prosecutor Eom Hee-joon) recently arrested Chief Jung on charges of violating the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes ( bribery), accepting bribes after illegal acts, breaching the Anti-Corruption Act, and initiating the destruction of evidence, requesting an extension to the detention period.

As the court accepted the prosecution’s request, the period of arrest for Chief Chung was extended until the 11th of the following month.

The termination date of the arrest of Chief Jung, who was arrested at dawn on the 19th, was extended to the 8th of the following month at the maximum, but the vacuum period in the investigation caused by Chief Chung’s request for trial in addition. reflect

For the remainder of the period, the prosecution is expected to focus on obtaining meaningful answers necessary for the investigation from Chief Jung, who denies the charges.

Mr. Chung received 140 million earned by Yoo Dong-kyu, the former head of the Seongnam Urban Development Corporation Planning Division, for providing convenience such as various projects, and chose Man-bae Kim (the actual owner of Hwacheon Daeyu Asset Management) as the developer Daejang- dong. In return, he is accused of receiving a promise of about 42.8 billion won, which is equivalent to a part of Cheonhwa Dongin No. 1.

As the prosecution sees this case as the ‘privatization of local autonomy’, the connection with Lee Jae-myung (the Mayor of Seongnam at the time), who was the ‘head’ of Chief Chung, is also under investigation. Prosecutors see Chung and Lee as a ‘political community’.

On the 25th, immediately after the arrest warrant was rejected, the prosecution summoned and investigated Chief Chung. However, it is known that Jung was not called during the weekend.
