Ji So-yeon and Chelsea end 8 years together… After the season ends

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Bae Jin-nam = Korean women’s soccer ace Ji So-yeon (31) will finish her 8-year companion with Chelsea in England and continue her career as a player in Korea.

Chelsea Women said on the club’s website on the 29th, “After spending an amazing 8 years at our club, Ji So-yeon will leave Chelsea and return to Korea after this season is over.”

Ji So-yeon played for Ainak in Kobe, Japan, but joined Chelsea in January 2014 and became the first Korean women’s soccer player to advance to the UK stage.

Since then, she has appeared in 208 official matches for Chelsea and scored 68 goals, including 37 in the England Women’s Super League (WSL).

During her time at Chelsea, Soyeon Ji experienced a total of 11 victories, including 5 WSL, 3 FA Cups, 2 League Cups, and 1 Community Shield.

Upon his debut at Chelsea, he was awarded WSL Player of the Year and PFA Player of the Year.

He left a clear mark as the first non-British player to play in 100 and 200 WSL matches.

In a video posted on the club’s website, Ji So-yeon showed her complicated feelings, saying, “Leaving Chelsea was a difficult decision.”

“A lot has changed in my eight years at Chelsea,” he said.

Ji So-yeon, who expressed her gratitude to Emma Hayes, the manager who helped her a lot, and to the fans who gave her great support, added, “I want to say, ‘Once, Chelsea is always Chelsea’.”

“I will miss him very much,” Hayes said. “So-yeon Ji has helped our club grow on and off the pitch. I am very grateful for everything he has done for all of our club. That puts us in a much better position.” and said goodbye.

It is known that Ji So-yeon will return to Korea after the contract with Chelsea ends and will play for the WK League team.

Ji So-yeon, who started her professional career at Kobe Ainak in 2011, has never played in a domestic league.
