[이데일리 스타in 임정우 기자] Kim Joo-hyeong (19) took the runners-up in the Asian Tour Blue Canyon Phuket Championship (total prize money of 1 million dollars).
Kim Joo-hyung hit a 6-under-par 66 in the fourth round of the tournament held at the Blue Canyon Country Club (par 72) in Phuket, Thailand on the 28th (Korean time). Kim Joo-hyeong, who recorded a final total of 17-under 271, was tied for second place with Sadom Kakkanzana (Thailand).
It is the first time in a year and eight months since the Bandar Malaysia Open in March of last year that the Asian Tour resumed after the 2020 season was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Kim Joo-hyung, who won three gold medals on the Korean Tour this season, proved that he is a strong player on the Asian Tour by winning the runner-up in this tournament.
Kim Joo-hyung, who started the game in a tie for fourth place, three shots behind the lead, reduced six strokes by combining seven birdies and one bogey. He failed to come from behind because he lacked just one stroke, but he climbed up three places in the rankings from the previous day and took the valuable runner-up.
The championship was won by Shinchang Chan (Taiwan), who recorded 18-under 270 strokes, and Bio Kim (31) was named tied for fourth place with 16-under 272 strokes. Seo Yo-seop (25) and Ok Tae-hoon (23) finished the tournament in a tie for 10th at 13-under 275 strokes.
