Jung Ho-young apologizes for ‘not reporting concurrent positions in rental business’… “I didn’t know about the rules change.”

When there was a controversy that Health and Welfare Minister Nominee Jeong Ho-young did not report the concurrent position in the real estate rental business, he said, “I am sorry for not carefully reviewing the relevant regulations.”

After making this statement in a press release on the 27th, the personnel hearing promotion team for the Minister of Health and Welfare said, “The candidate has recently completed an application for a concurrent position in the real estate rental business.”

The hearing committee said, “In 2008, the duty to report concurrent positions in the real estate rental business was clearly stipulated in the ‘Regulations related to the service and discipline of public officials’ in 2008. he explained.

Regarding the fact that candidate Jeong received tax benefits for small business by using his status as a rental business operator, he said, “It is irrelevant whether he/she reports concurrently, and he used an income deduction that is legally recognized as meeting the relevant qualifications. We have been faithfully paying the relevant taxes through this,” he said.

According to a media outlet the previous day, it was revealed that candidate Chung made 23 million won a month in rental income last year from a commercial building in Dongseong-ro, Daegu as a real estate rental business, but did not report concurrent positions.

Candidate Chung has been a professor at Kyungpook National University since 1998 and served as the head of Kyungpook National University Hospital from 2017 to 2020. Full-time professors at national universities need permission from the head of their institution to engage in for-profit work other than public service as a public official.
