Juri Vips of Red Bull F1 upbringing “People’s perception of Helmut Marko is wrong”[F1-Gate .com]

Red Bull F1 upbringing driver Juri Vips believes that motorsport advisor Helmut Marko’s approach to work is different from what outsiders think.

Helmut Marko is in frequent contact with members of the Red Bull F1 junior team. Currently, Yuri Vips, Liam Lawson who participates in F2, Ayumu Iwasa who is also a training driver of Honda belong to the F1 subordinate organization.

Although Helmut Marco’s reputation for members of the Red Bull Junior Team is often described as ruthless, Yuri Vips believes that his experience working with Helmut Marco is different from outside perception.

“He’s simpler than people think,” Juri Vips told Formula1.com.

“He puts pressure on him, but if he’s done well, he’s very nice and very straightforward. If he performs well, everything is good.”

The image of Helmut Marko and the Red Bull Junior Team taking a nonsense approach may have come from changes in past lineups in F1 and the Junior category.

In the last few years, many Red Bull Junior drivers have reached F1 and previously raced at Toro Rosso (now Alpha Tauri).

However, many drivers, such as Scott Speed, Jaime Alguersuari and Jean-Eric Vergne, have lost their place in F1 after a short period of time with the team.

Red Bull has also gained a reputation for several sudden driver changes, including the demotion of Pierre Guthrie from Red Bull Racing to Toro Rosso in 2019. In 2016, Daniil Kvyat followed the same fate.

Juri Vips believes Red Bull F1 is taking the right approach to ensure that the team has only the best talent.

“That’s the Red Bull Junior Team. If it doesn’t work, you may be kicked out, but hopefully you can reach F1,” said Juri Vips.

“Sure, they throw people away, but why would you want to keep a driver who isn’t suitable for F1 and pay for it?”

“They only want the best talent and I think that’s the right approach. They keep the best talent and give them a chance.”

Juri Vips is also grateful for the financial support that comes from joining the Red Bull F1 upbringing program.

“Without Red Bull, we couldn’t continue the race,” added Yuri Vips.

“They gave me this opportunity.”
