U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris said on Wednesday during a visit to Singapore that the United States reaffirmed its commitment to cooperate with its allies in accordance with international regulations. for peace and freedom in the South China Sea While the United States has always denied China’s claims over the South China Sea.

Harris arrived in Singapore on Aug. 22, where he was scheduled to meet with Singapore’s leaders. It is part of a planned seven-day visit to Southeast Asia to strengthen ties with Southeast Asian allies and counter China’s power.

The United States previously stressed that the 10 Southeast Asian countries are of strategic importance to the United States. and reaffirmed its commitment to address concerns about China’s claims to the disputed South China Sea.

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said Singapore attaches great importance to the United States in strengthening ties with its allies in the region. including supporting the United States in evacuating its citizens from Afghanistan.

By tomorrow (Aug 24), Harris is scheduled to visit Hanoi. Vietnam too
