Karipur gold smuggling case; Akash Thillankeri was released by Customs after 12 hours of interrogation

Kochi: Akash Thillankeri, accused in the murder case of Shuhaib in the Karipur gold smuggling case, has been released by the Customs after questioning. Akash Thillankeri was released after 12 hours of interrogation. The main accused, Arjun Ayanki, was found to have used the support of gangs for smuggling. Meanwhile, the Customs asked the court not to grant bail to Arjun Ayanki.

Akash Thillankeri was present at the Customs Preventive Office in Kochi at 11 am. The accused in the Kasargod Shuhaib murder case had given a statement to the customs regarding his connection with the main accused Arjun Ayanki. Shafi, the accused in the TP case, had also told the customs about Akash Thillankeri. It is being investigated whether Akash Thillankeri was involved in the smuggling or gold smuggling of Arjun Ayanki. The probe team concluded that he was aware of Arjun Ayanki’s dealings.

Meanwhile, the Customs filed a report in the Economic Crimes Court against Arjun Ayanki’s bail application. It is reported that he had smuggled through various airports in Kerala in the past and used the support of goons for this. The names of those convicted of murder were also used to intimidate. He lured young people into smuggling by uploading pictures of a political party on Facebook.

Arjun Ayanki’s wife has also given a statement about his smuggling. Customs said there were allegations that the smuggling gang under Arjun had political connections.
