The film is the second installment of Karthikeya, which was released in 2014, but the new film has a different story from the first. Chandoo Monteti, who directed the first part, has also directed this second part, which is a mixture of history and fantasy. It is a carefully thought out picture that connects the dots between God and science. Anupama Parameswaran is the female lead of the film, where Nikhil Siddharth is back as the protagonist.

In the first part, Karthikeya, the protagonist’s overwhelming curiosity tells about the mysteries of the ancient Subramanya Temple in Tamil Nadu and the unexpected mission that comes his way, while the second part travels to Dwarka, Mathura and North India. The film tells the story of Lord Krishna during his Dwapara Yuga. Lord Krishna foresees the problems of the coming age and prepares solutions for them. This story related to the story of Lord Krishna has strengthened the film.

Chandu and his team have made the film in a very colorful manner. From the very beginning, director Buddhi makes the audience understand that something mysterious is about to happen. The main character who believes in science is a blind atheist who firmly believes only what his mind tells him.

After the events of the previous film, archaeologist Professor Ranganatha Rao visits a library in Greece and entrusts a man named Lord Krishnan Uddhavan to protect his anklet, which contains answers to problems and faced by people in the Kali Yuga. So far, no one has been able to find the chimpanzee. A leading archaeologist looking for a way to find the footprint received some clues and hid it to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands. But the story is about the hero who is going to find that chimp if he returns to something. Through this film, the director says that we should look at Sri Krishna as a great teacher, warrior, musician and architect.

In this film, Anupa can be seen in a unique character which has not been seen before in Malayalam. Abira played by Venkatesh Mummu Mummudi is also praised. The influential character of Bollywood actor Anupam Kher is also worth mentioning. While Aditya, Srinivasa Reddy and Tulsi also graced the roles, Karthik Phashaneni’s cinematography and Kalabhairava’s music made Karthikeya’s second coming perfect.

The evocative backdrops are the film’s greatest asset. Especially the scenery in Dwarka gave a great experience. Karthik Phashaneni had captured the scenes beautifully. The cinematography, executed with precision according to each situation, supported the film well, a mix of different genres. Kalabhairava’s music also plays a major role in making the film’s adventure-thriller approach successful. The suspenseful climax scenes have been done very well with the help of VFX and are one of the main attractions of the film. Karthikeya 2 can be described as an action adventure fantasy film.
