The UDF came to power in Karunapuram panchayath with the support of a BDJS independent member. Voting Status: UDF 9, LDF 8. Karunapuram was a LDF-ruled panchayat by lot as BDJS independent member abstained from voting. Two weeks ago, the UDF expelled the LDF here in disbelief.
The UDF lost control of Paingottoor panchayat, the birthplace of Dean Kuriakose MP and Mathew Kuzhalnadan MLA. This is with the passage of the no-confidence motion brought by the Left. The Left came to power after a Muslim League member voted against the Congress.
