Kerala Governor’s instruction to vc about vc’s resignation to go to court | Kerala Governor : VCs against Governor’s extraordinary act; Legal experts are consulted

The Vice Chancellors of 9 state universities are against the unusual action of the Governor asking them to resign. The governor has asked for the letter of resignation to be submitted by 11.30 am today. But the Vice Chancellors have decided not to tender their resignations. The VCs have decided to consult legal experts. The Vice Chancellors of Kerala, Calicut and Kannur universities have reached Kochi for this purpose.

Since the government is not a party to the case, the VCs will approach the court on their own. Based on the Supreme Court verdict, Governor Arif Muhammad Khan has directed the VCs to resign. The VCs of Kerala University, MG University, CUSAT, Kerala Fisheries University, Kannur University, KTU, Sanskrit University, Calicut University and Malayalam University have been asked to resign.

Raj Bhavan said the resignation was sought because the appointment was against UGC norms. Raj Bhavan has informed that 5 Vice-Chancellors have made a one-name recommendation for asking to resign and the rest of the day there were no academics in the search committee for the appointment of Vice-Chancellors. ‘

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will hold a press conference today at 10.30 am to talk about the issue. The Prime Minister meets the media in Palakkad. At present, the government has directed that the Vice-Chancellor should not resign. In the meantime, if all 9 Sub-Centrals do not submit their resignations, there is a possibility that they will be dismissed. Also, it was decided to give the pay of VCs to senior teachers.
