Thiruvananthapuram: The mask has been made mandatory again in the state in the wake of a recurrence of Kovid disease across the country. The order was issued under the Chief Secretary Disaster Management Act. Failure to wear the mask will result in a fine. The new order makes it mandatory to wear a mask in public places and workplaces. Meanwhile, the Kovid review meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister, is progressing amid a resurgence of Kovid disease.

The Kovid review meeting will be attended by state chief ministers as well as senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandavya and officials from the respective ministries. The current situation in Kovid, vaccination, booster dose drive and the path of corona outbreak in some states will be discussed, the report said.

In the last 24 hours, 2,927 more people in the country have been diagnosed with Kovid disease. With this, the total number of Kovids in the country has increased to 4,30,65,496. In addition, there are currently 16,279 people in the country being treated for Kovid disease. In addition, 32 people have died in the country due to Kovid disease in the last 24 hours.

The death toll from Kovid disease in the country has risen to 5,23,654. Only 0.04 per cent of the total Kovid patients in the country are currently undergoing treatment. The current covid cure rate in the country is 98.75 per cent. A total of 188.19 Kovid vaccine doses have been distributed in the country so far. In the last 24 hours, 2,252 people have been cured of Kovid disease.

Although Kerala has stopped publishing Kovid figures, reports indicate that Kerala is one of the states in the country with the highest number of confirmed Kovid cases on a daily basis. In the month of April alone, 7039 people in Kerala were diagnosed with Kovid disease. Several states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, have re-tightened Kovid controls in the wake of the outbreak.
