AHMEDABAD: Kerala’s hopes of women’s rugby sevens at the National Games have been dashed. After losing the first two matches, Kerala later bounced back but the fight came to an end in the final. Kerala lost to the strong Bihar in the pre-quarters. Score: 0-21. Bihar led 14-0 in the first half. The score in the second half is 7-0.
After losing to Odisha and Bengal in the first two matches before getting a chance to familiarize themselves with the ground, Kerala qualified for the shoot-out as the third-placed team in Group B by defeating Chandigarh in the final match of the preliminary round. Kerala overcame Chandigarh by displaying better consistency and pace. Now Kerala has to compete for less than five positions.
