Kerala Weather: heavy rain expected yellow alerts updates

The Central Meteorological Department has forecast isolated showers in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts for the next three hours.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has forecast isolated showers in the state. Yellow alert was declared in five districts today. Chance of thunder and wind.

South Kerala and Central Kerala are likely to receive more rainfall. Rainfall is also expected in the eastern parts of the northern districts. Districts where Yellow Alert has been declared

  • 14-04-2022: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Malappuram.
  • 15-04-2022: Pathanamthitta, Idukki.

The Central Meteorological Department has warned fishermen not to go fishing in the upper reaches of the coasts of Kerala, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu and Kanyakumari due to strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph (sometimes up to 60 kmph).

Fishing is also banned in the southeastern Arabian Sea, Kanyakumari and the Gulf of Mannar.

Heavy rains lashed Kuttanad the previous day. The 600 acres of paddy fields that were to be harvested were destroyed by the fall. Other fields are at risk of flooding as the rains continue.

Thiruvananthapuram district received heavy rains yesterday. It is learned that about 1.07 crore crops were damaged in the district.
