Kevin Magnussen “The black and orange flag is too much” / F1 Singapore GP[F1-Gate.com]

Haas F1 team’s Kevin Magnussen has expressed his anger at the FIA after being forced to go in again for repairs at the Singapore Grand Prix.

Kevin Magnussen was presented with the black and orange flag for the third time this season after he came into contact with Max Verstappen in the first tangle and suffered minor damage to the front wing.

This year Kevin Magnussen was shown rare flags in Hungary and Canada, both with similar damage, with the front wing plate coming off.

Earlier in the weekend, Haas F1 team principal Gunther Gunther accused the FIA of “fabricating” a penalty for Kevin Magnussen over the past two incidents.

“We were so close. We were all so close on the whole lap that we didn’t realize we were making contact and I didn’t feel anything in the car,” said Kevin Magnussen.

“The team told me that the damage was minor and that we explained to the FIA that it was the endplate and it was binding. The FIA should know that, they make the regulations they are.”

“That part doesn’t come off, so there’s no safety concern, and it didn’t thrive.”

“Give me the black and orange flag going too far.”

Kevin Magnussen and the Haas F1 team continued to resent what happened in the race, which saw six people retire and Aston Martin’s second double points finish the season.

Asked what the Haas F1 team could do to convince the FIA that the risk of running with such damage is minimal, Kevin Magnussen admitted: “I don’t know.”

“I hope I can talk to them again and they understand what this is all about, because cars can be scratched.”

“This is F1. You have to be able to fight.”

“Obviously I understand that if you have a suspended front wing, you don’t want to fall under the car or hit other cars or drivers, but this is a very small part at the end of the wing. It is and has to connect.”
