Kia EV6, ahead of its European launch, is well-received by local media… “Great fun to drive”

UK’s Wakka “Charges faster than Tesla Model 3″… Comparison with Ioniq 5

Kia’s first dedicated electric vehicle EV6, which is scheduled to be launched in the European market next month, is receiving favorable reviews from local car media.

According to the Hyundai Motor Group’s official PR channel ‘HMG Journal’ on the 26th, European car media that test drove the EV6 long-range model gave good scores evenly on driving performance, fast charging, design and interior space.

Autobild, a German automobile magazine, said, “The vehicle’s movement, steering feel, and suspension were properly and perfectly tuned. It’s a lot of fun to drive.”

AutoWeek, a Dutch automobile media outlet, commented, “Even though the EV6 weighs 2.1 tons due to the battery, the overall weight is evenly distributed and the vehicle is driven thanks to the excellent suspension settings. It is difficult to feel the weight of a vehicle like this.”

German automobile magazine ‘Automoto und Sport (AMS)’ mentioned that the acceleration performance from standstill to 100km/h in 5.2 seconds is impressive, and said, “It is stable and comfortable even while driving at 185km/h.” left behind

There were also favorable reviews for the ‘V2L’ that can supply battery power to the outside with a fast charging speed. The EV6 is equipped with an 800V high-voltage system to enable super-fast charging of 240 kW (based on UK models), and using this, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes.

The British automobile magazine ‘What Car?’ expressed satisfaction by saying, “The charging speed is much faster than that of the Tesla Model 3,” and ‘AutoWeek’ also evaluated that “Hyundai Motor Group’s battery charging technology is excellent and very efficient.”

British car YouTube channels ‘Carwow’ and ‘Waka’, which have 6.19 million subscribers, cook HMR using a microwave oven or boil water with an electric coffee pot to inform readers about the usefulness of V2L. He directed the warming up scenes. In the case of V2L applied to EV6, it supports 3.6kW of power, which is higher than the average hourly electricity consumption of 3kW of ordinary households.

Local media also gave high marks to the design and interior space. Matt Watson, the host of ‘Kowaow’, said, “In reality, it is very beautiful, and the front part is sporty and has a reliable impression. The long left and right rear lamps remind me of sparkling jewels.”

Wakka said, “There is plenty of space in the back seat. Even tall people can sit comfortably. In addition, I am very satisfied with the first-row relaxing comfort seat function and the second-row reclining function.” He continued, “I really like the center console. It is at the same height as the driver’s door armrest, so you can take a very comfortable position for long-distance driving.”

There was also an evaluation comparing the Ioniq 5 and EV6, an electric vehicle that Hyundai Motors first introduced. British automobile magazine ‘Top Gear’ said, “The basic design of the two cars is the same. However, the interior of the EV6 is more familiar, and the trunk space is smaller.”

‘Wakka’ said, “The EV6’s suspension setting and steering feel are sportier than the IONIQ 5, the driving sensation is more agile, and the driving fun is rich.” The EV6 has a dynamic and solid driving feel.”
