Kia Motors Reports Strong Global Sales Growth in August 2023
In August 2023, Kia Motors achieved impressive sales figures, with a total of 255,481 units sold worldwide, marking a 5.2% increase compared to the same period last year. This includes 42,225 units sold in Korea, 212,882 units sold overseas, and 374 special units.
Domestic sales experienced a 2.4% growth, while overseas sales saw an even more significant increase of 5.8%. Contributing to these strong results were the popular models in Kia’s lineup. The Sportage emerged as the best-selling vehicle in the global market, with 41,376 units sold. It was followed closely by the Seltos with 31,647 units and the Sorento with 21,498 units.
In the Korean market, Kia sold a total of 42,225 units, representing a 2.4% increase from the same month last year. The Sorento proved to be the most popular model, with 7,176 units sold. Sedans also performed well, with a total of 13,852 units sold. This includes 4,402 units of the Rays, 2,910 units of the Mornings, 2,613 units of the K5, and 2,457 units of the K8.
RVs, or recreational vehicles, were also in high demand, with a total of 24,379 units sold. Among these, the Sorento led the pack with 5,210 units, followed by the Sportage with 4,937 units, the Carnival with 3,512 units, the Seltos with 1,809 units, and the Niro with 1,809 units.
Kia’s overseas sales recorded a significant growth of 5.8%, reaching a total of 212,882 units. The Sportage was the top-performing model, selling 36,166 units in international markets. It was followed by the Seltos with 28,135 units and the K3 (Forte) with 17,702 units.
In addition to its impressive sales performance, Kia also announced its plans to maintain its momentum in the market. The upcoming launches of the Sorento Marketability Enhancement Model, K5 Marketability Enhancement Model, Carnival Marketing Enhancement Model, and active EV marketing initiatives are expected to further strengthen the brand’s position.

A total of 374 special vehicles were sold, including 109 in Korea and 265 overseas.
