Kim Cheol-geun Ethics Committee disciplinary procedure started, invalidated for violating party rules

“Initiation of disciplinary process without investigation by the Audit Committee, an obvious violation of the procedure… There is no opportunity to explain.”

Power of the People Kim Cheol-geun, leader of the party’s political affairs office, protested on the 23rd that the party’s Central Ethics Committee initiated a disciplinary procedure against him, saying it was “void as a violation of the party’s ethics committee regulations.”

Director Kim, an aide to CEO Lee Jun-seok, posted on social media this morning, “When looking at the rules of the Ethics Committee, the Ethics Committee can directly refer disciplinary cases only after going through the procedures of the Audit Committee. “However, since the Audit Committee has not conducted an investigation, the Ethics Committee has to entrust the investigation to the Audit Committee and cannot directly refer disciplinary cases.”

He continued, “The Ethics Committee violated the procedures set by the party rules and ethics committee and made me appear as a referee in the disciplinary procedure against the party representative, and immediately treated the vocation as an investigation into me, and immediately without a procedure for referencing a disciplinary case against me. “We have initiated a disciplinary process,” he said.

He added, “On the other hand, when a disciplinary case is referred, the ethics committee must notify the subject in writing without delay.

He pointed out, “However, the Ethics Committee only requested me to appear as a witness, so there was no notice of the fact that I was referred to disciplinary action.”

He continued, “I only made a statement as a witness without being given an opportunity to explain, but the disciplinary process was initiated, which is also a violation of the procedure.”

The People’s Power Ethics Committee started disciplinary procedures against Kim, who was accused of ‘destruction of evidence’ in relation to the alleged sexual abuse of CEO Lee the day before.
