This means that he will be reinstated after being elected as an independent by throwing away his position as a member of the Supreme Council and withdrawing from the party.

In a telephone conversation with the Maeil Newspaper on the 28th, Kim said, “The party made that decision, so I will actively follow it.” He was elected as the highest member of the National Strength of Peoples Convention last year, and since then has appeared on various TV shows during the presidential election, as well as sniping Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, and covering People’s Power candidate Yoon Seok-yeol.

Afterwards, he expressed his intention to run for the Daegu Jung-gu Nam-gu by-election to be held along with the presidential election, and entered the election after completing the registration of preliminary candidates.

If Kim leaves the party to run for office, the People’s Power will vacate one seat in the Supreme Council. In response, Supreme Council member Kim reaffirmed his determination to run for office again, saying, “Any sacrifice incidental to running for an independent candidate must be taken of course.”
