The vice chairman of the Public Relations Subcommittee of the Korean Volleyball Association, Yu Ae-ja, who caused controversy over rude conduct during the interview process of Kim Yeon-kyung (33, Shanghai) returning home, has resigned.

Vice Chairman Yoo Ae-ja released an apology on the website of the Korea Volleyball Association on the 12th.

“I bow my head and apologize for causing concern to the fans who love and cherish volleyball by making unreasonable and unreasonable conduct during the interview process of the women’s volleyball team returning home,” he said.

He added, “Feeling the heavy responsibility of the situation, I will resign from the position of vice chairman of the Korea Volleyball Association and take time to reflect on myself with deep reflection.”

Vice Chairman Yu Ae-ja held a press conference with Kim Yeon-kyung, captain of the women’s volleyball team, who returned from Incheon International Airport on the 9th.

At this meeting, I asked about the bounty, and asked again to thank the president, the president of the Korea Volleyball Association, and the president of the Korea Volleyball Federation.

Instead of saying that they worked hard in difficult situations such as injuries, they were criticized for being forced to pay rewards and say thanks.

Oh Han-nam, president of the Korean Volleyball Association, also posted an apology on the association’s website on the same day.

Referring to the interview at the time of the scandal, Chairman Oh said, “There was a rude expression that emphasized several times about the rewards given by the host to the team and the message of encouragement from President Moon Jae-in. As the national team bounty and President Moon Jae-in’s message of encouragement had already been reported through various media, I respectfully state that it was not intended to highlight the relevant content or have any political purpose.”

He explained, “It was an undesirable situation that occurred in a relaxed atmosphere without hesitation as a senior volleyball player, who had a close relationship with Kim Yeon-kyung, such as a dedicated commentary on the Fenerbahce Club match in the 2011-2012 Turkish season.”

“I once again apologize for causing concern to the people, and I promise to do everything I can to prevent this from happening again in the future.”
