A former police officer’s attack on a day care center killed 38 people, including babies, in a horrific tragedy.

According to local media such as the Bangkok Post on the 7th (local time), Thai police said that 38 people, including 24 children, were killed in this incident that happened on the 6th. The number of deaths includes the perpetrator, his wife and three-year-old son, and the perpetrator committed suicide after killing 37 people.

So far, 10 people have been injured, six of them in a serious condition, the police said.

Former police officer Panya Kamrab, 34, who was fired for drug charges, visited a day care center in Naklang, Arampu province, Thailand where his son was present, and brutally attacked teachers and children with guns and knives. Afterwards, he went home and killed his wife and son, and made an extreme choice.

The King of Thailand, Maha Vajiralongkorn (Rama X) and Prime Minister Prayut Chanocha visited the farmer Arampu Province on the same day to comfort the survivors and mourn the victims. In addition, the government demanded that flags be raised in all establishments to mourn the deaths of the victims.

Dozens of residents gathered around the daycare center where the incident happened to express their condolences.

Panya, who was dismissed by the police for possessing the demonic methamphetamine, is said to have gone to court for a drug-related case on the day of the crime. In particular, the police said that the verdict on the case was due to be announced on the 7th.

Police told local media that the suspect’s mother took drugs under stress after leaving court, then went to day care with a gun, showing signs of paranoia.

Paisan Le Sombun, spokesman for the local police, said, “He may have suffered anger after being fired upon by the police, but it is not clear why the day care center was targeted.”
