Kochi വിമാനത്താവള International Airport Director A.C.K. Nair retires. ACK holds the record for the longest tenure as Airport Director in India. Nair stepping down. He has been the Director of Kochi Airport since 2004.

He was one of the key players in the development of Kochi Airport. Following the approval of the Central Government for the construction of a public-owned airport at Kochi, in 1996, A.C.K. Nair arrived in CIAL on deputation.

ACK is under construction at the airport. Nair’s technical knowledge and leadership qualities were crucial. At the request of CIAL, he took over as the Deputy General Manager, Electrical Division, Kochi Airport in 2000. He earned his MBA in 2004 while serving as Airport Director. He has been the Asia Pacific Director of the Airport Council International, an international organization of airport operators, for six years.

He was instrumental in making Kochi Airport technically the best in India and in discovering new revenue streams for CIAL. In addition to being the Director of Kochi Airport, he was in charge of Electrical, IT, Cargo, Fire and Security and Managing Director of Cochin International Aviation Services Limited.

In 2006, he served as interim managing director of CIAL for one month. The state-of-the-art power supply system for Kochi Airport, the integrated airport management system and the first CT based baggage screening system in India were completed by ACK Nair.

ACK Nair hails from Thiruvananthapuram and obtained his BTech in Electrical Engineering in 1984 from the College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram. Prior to joining the Airport Authority in 1989, he worked in the Indian Telephone Industry for two years.
