Kohaigen begins construction of a large capacity charging station for commercial vehicles in Sejong

[월간수소경제 박상우 기자] A hydrogen filling station for commercial vehicles supplying 300 kg of hydrogen per hour will be built in Sejong City.

Kohaigen announced on the 22nd that it is holding a groundbreaking ceremony for the “Kohaigen Sejong Daepyeong Hydrogen Charging Station”, a hydrogen charging station for commercial vehicles, on the site where the Sejong Daepyeong charging station is planned to be built at Sejong City Intercity Bus. Terminal.

This hydrogen filling station is promoted as a private capital subsidy project for the installation of hydrogen fuel cell vehicle charging stations by the Ministry of Environment. The cost of the project is KRW 9.35 billion, including KRW 4.2 billion from the government, KRW 1.35 billion from Sejong City, and KRW 3.8 billion from Kohaizen It is a large capacity charging station that charges 300 kg of hydrogen per hour, which is 12 times more than 25 kg charging stations commonly found in central areas.

This is a large capacity charging station designed for the purpose of charging commercial hydrogen vehicles such as buses and trucks that use large amounts of hydrogen.

Considering that a general hydrogen filling station can lift 1 bus or 5 passenger cars per hour, the completion of the Sejong Daepyeong hydrogen filling station is expected to expand the infrastructure for the introduction and conversion of hydrogen commercial vehicles.

In addition, the Sejong Daepyeong hydrogen filling station in Kohigen is optimized for charging commercial vehicles that require long-distance driving time and fast charging time, and is expected to dramatically increase user convenience.

It is possible to charge commercial vehicles traveling an average distance of 434 km per vehicle, and the average charging time is 10 to 12 minutes per hydrogen bus. This increase in consumer convenience is expected to further increase the accessibility of hydrogen vehicles and promote the revival of the hydrogen economy.

Kohaigen currently operates the Jeonju Peace Hydrogen Station and the Seongju Changwon Hydrogen Station, and is building large-capacity hydrogen charging stations for commercial vehicles in 19 regions across the country.

In particular, in 2023, it was selected as a private capital subsidy project for the installation of liquefied hydrogen filling stations for commercial vehicles in two regions, and plans to build and operate large capacity hydrogen filling stations in 30 regions throughout the country by 2028.
