Kohli is happy to have Dhoni as his mentor, but Kohli says he knows nothing about Dravid becoming his coach

Dubai: India captain Virat Kohli says he has no idea that Rahul Dravid will be the new coach of the Indian cricket team after the T20 World Cup. Speaking at a press conference ahead of the T20 World Cup, Kohli said he did not know if Dravid would be the next coach.

No idea what’s going on there. Kohli said he has not yet had detailed discussions with anyone about Dravid becoming the coach. After the T20 World Cup, there were reports that Dravid would replace Ravi Shastri as the Indian coach. Kohli, meanwhile, said he was happy to have former skipper MS Dhoni as his mentor in the T20 World Cup.

Dhoni’s presence will make a big difference in any team. He is very happy to join our team. Dhoni’s presence will help boost the team’s morale. Dhoni’s practical suggestions and assessments of the game will be beneficial to the team. He was also a mentor to all of us when he was captain of the team. We were all at the beginning of our careers then. Now he is returning to the same role. His presence will be very beneficial for the youngsters. Kohli said he was excited to be back in the Indian team’s dressing room.

Dravid, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah met in Dubai ahead of the IPL final yesterday. After this, the national media reported that Dravid was ready to take over as the coach on a two-year contract. According to the report, Dravid’s annual salary will be Rs 10 crore and Paras Mambre, Dravid’s right – hand man, will be the new bowling coach at the National Cricket Academy.
