Hangzhou, China – In a display of sheer skill and dominance, the Korean national team emerged triumphant in the Men’s and Women’s Taekwondo Poomsae Championship at the Hangzhou Asian Games. The renowned Cha Ye-eun, a student of Kyung Hee University, continues to make her mark as she clinched yet another gold medal for the Korean team.
In the highly anticipated women’s individual Taekwondo Poomsae competition held at the Lin’an Sports and Culture Exhibition Center on the eventful afternoon of the 24th, Cha Ye-eun showcased her exceptional talent and defeated Japan’s Yuiko Niwa in the thrilling finals. With this remarkable win, Cha Ye-eun now proudly holds the title of the top Asian champion.
Throughout the intense competition, Cha Ye-eun’s captivating performance secured her outstanding scores of 7.860 and 7.220 points in the first and second games of the finals, held in Korea and free Poomsae, respectively. Her formidable opponent, Niwa, fell short with scores of 7.620 and 6.700 points.
Prior to Cha Ye-eun’s well-deserved victory, it was Kang Wan-jin from the Hongcheon-gun Office who claimed the gold medal in the men’s individual event. This historic win marked Korea’s first gold medal of the tournament, further solidifying their prowess in the sport.

Cha Ye-eun (Kyung Hee University), who competed in the women’s individual Taekwondo Poomsae competition on the 24th, won another gold medal for the Korean team at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
Cha Ye-eun defeated Japan’s Yuiko Niwa in the finals of the competition held at the Lin’an Sports and Culture Exhibition Center in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China on the 24th to become the top Asian champion.
