Korea defeated Lebanon 1-0.

Korea and Lebanon finished 1-0 in the second leg of the Asian final qualifying round for the 2022 Qatar World Cup held at Suwon World Cup Stadium on the 7th.

On this day, Bentuho started the game with a radically different start, with Son Heung-min missing due to an injury and Hwang Ui-jo starting from the bench.

Korea dominated the game by knocking on Lebanon’s goal from the beginning. In the 2nd minute of the first half, Lee Dong-kyung created a corner kick with a mid-range shot, and Kim Min-jae headed a corner kick in the 10th minute and showed a threatening shot, but it did not lead to a goal.

It was not easy to create the opening goal despite the high possession of the ball. In the end, Korea could not open Lebanon’s goal and the first half ended 0-0.

At the beginning of the second half, Bento replaced Hwang Ui-jo in place of Jo Kyu-sung. Then, in the 12th minute of the second half, Lee Dong-kyung and Na Sang-ho were removed, and Song Min-gyu and Kwon Chang-hoon were put in.

The opening goal came in the 14th minute of the second half, two minutes after substitution. The owner of the goal was Kwon Chang-hoon, a substitute. Kwon Chang-hoon scored the first goal in the qualifying round by finishing with his left foot without missing the ball that Chan-hee Hwang raised from the left flank.

In the 43rd minute of the second half, Song Min-gyu received a pass from Hwang In-beom and aimed for an additional goal, but the ball went high and missed. Just before the match, Hwang Hee-chan saw a goal opportunity with a threatening shot, but it did not lead to an additional goal.

As a result, Korea finished the match 1-0 and took three points. With a total of 1 win and 1 draw (4 points), Korea is currently ranked first in Group A.

Meanwhile, Korea will play a World Cup final qualifier against Syria and Iran next month.
