Korean Air to fly flight to Hawaii after 19 months

[서울=뉴스핌] Reporter Kang Myung-yeon = Korean Air will resume flights to Hawaii from the 3rd of next month. It has been 19 months since the flight was suspended in April last year due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

Korean Air announced on the 20th that it will operate the Incheon-Honolulu route three times a week. Departure flight (KE053) departs Incheon International Airport at 8:35 pm on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and arrives at Honolulu Airport in Hawaii at 10 am (local time). The return flight (KE054) departs Honolulu at 11:40 am on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and arrives at Incheon International Airport at 5:45 pm the next day.

Korean Air decided to resume flights in line with the recent increase in visitors due to an increase in vaccination rates. The number of Korean tourists visiting Hawaii is continuously increasing, increasing from about 200 in January to about 1,000 a month recently.

Hawaii has been the undisputed number one destination for many years in a survey of the best travel destinations by Korean Air flight attendants. Before Corona 19, Korean Air operated the route 14 times a week, twice a day.

A Korean Air official said, “Considering the domestic and overseas COVID-19 situation, the increase in vaccination rates and the increase in overseas visitors, we will continue to review the resumption of suspended routes so that customers can enjoy overseas travel more safely and happily.”
