The Korean Diabetes Association’s Journal Achieves Global Recognition
The Diabetes & Metabolism Journal (DMJ), the official publication of the Korean Diabetes Association, has recently solidified its standing as a leading international endocrine and metabolic journal. The journal’s 2022 Impact Factor (IF), a measure of its influence and importance in the scientific community, has been published at an impressive 5.9.
Clarivate Analytics’ Web of Science-list Citation Report (JCR) has ranked the DMJ 30th out of 145 journals in the field of SCI-Endocrinology and Metabolism, a significant jump from its previous ranking of 37th. This places the journal in the top 20% of endocrinology journals and solidifies its status as a ‘C1 journal.’
What sets the DMJ apart is its consistent growth in impact since its inclusion in the SCI in 2017. From an initial IF of 3.263 in 2018, the journal has now doubled its impact. This remarkable achievement reflects the immense contribution of Korean medical research on a global scale.
The DMJ, previously known as the Journal of Korean Diabetes Association in 1972 and later as the Korean Diabetes Journal in 2008, transitioned into an English journal in 2010 to secure its listing in SCIE. Since then, it has flourished as one of Asia’s leading medical publications, publishing bi-monthly and attracting a diverse editorial board of 93 members from 21 countries.
The DMJ’s recognition further extends to its listing in prominent databases such as PMC in 2010, SCOPUS in 2012, EMBASE in 2013, and MEDLINE in 2019. With its growing reputation and international reach, the DMJ continues to elevate itself as a groundbreaking academic journal.
Kyu-Jang Won, Chairman of the Korean Diabetes Association, expressed great pride in the DMJ’s achievements, stating, “We strive to establish the DMJ as a renowned international academic journal representing the high caliber of Asian research. We will continue to work diligently towards this goal.”
