Korean High Jumper Woo Sang-Hyuk Soars to Finals at Hangzhou Asian Games with Impressive Performance

Korean high jumper Woo Sang-hyuk impressively advanced to the finals in the Hangzhou Asian Games preliminaries with just one jump. It seems that the final will be a showdown between Woo Sang-hyuk and Qatar’s Barshim, as Woo expressed his confidence in his abilities. Woo Sang-hyuk quietly prepared for his first jump in Hangzhou and delivered a powerful jump, easily clearing the 2.15 bar on his first attempt. Although it fell short of his personal best by around 20 centimeters, Sanghyuk Woo secured his spot in the finals with just one jump. A total of 12 finalists were decided at this height.

Returning after five years of growth as a world-class jumper since winning the silver medal in the previous competition, Woo Sang-hyuk showcased his confidence to the fullest. He boldly proclaimed, “I will demonstrate my performance in the finals. I will give my all to set a new personal and Korean record.”

Woo Sang-hyuk’s biggest rival, Barsim Qatar, also effortlessly cleared the 2.19 meter bar as if it were a warm-up. The two athletes encouraged each other and predicted an exciting match.

Additionally, promising high school student Choi Jin-woo, who idolized jumpers like Woo Sang-hyuk and Barsim, made it to the finals in his first appearance on the international stage among adults. Choi expressed his awe at witnessing Barsim’s prowess and confidently stated his belief that he too can reach such heights.

The competition in Hangzhou started smoothly, and Woo Sang-hyuk continues his impressive leap towards securing his first Asian Games gold medal in the finals tomorrow (4th).

Woo Sang-hyuk, who warmed up quietly and prepared for his first jump in Hangzhou, took a powerful jump and easily cleared the 2.15 bar on his first attempt.

Despite being around 20 centimeters short of his personal best, Sanghyuk Woo secured his place in the finals with just one jump, with 12 in the final decided at this height.

Woo Sang-hyuk, who returned after growing into a world-class jumper in the five years since winning the silver medal at the last competition, showed his confidence with all his might.
