Russia takes revenge against Finland for joining NATO

Sweden joining NATO was expected to be discussed, but Turkiye eventually withdrew.
Turkiye continues to oppose Sweden’s NATO membership, saying that Sweden is protecting the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, which is a threat to its national security.
First of all, the NATO side said Turkey’s absence was due to the formation of the parliament, and expected Sweden’s accession at the July summit.
However, it is not known whether Turkey, which has pursued its own interests by walking a tightrope diplomacy between Russia and the West, will readily approve of Sweden’s admission.
However, as President Biden seeks to calm the F-16 fighter jet trade, expectations that Turkey will approve membership are rising.
Turkey wants to import $20 billion worth of F-16 fighter jets to the United States, but the US Congress has refused, citing opposition to NATO membership and human rights issues.
US Secretary of State Tony Blincoln held a press conference with the Prime Minister of Sweden and pressed Turkey to quickly approve NATO membership.
Russia is taking retaliatory measures, such as notifying Finland to close some diplomatic missions after joining NATO in April.
After the war in Ukraine, the tug of war continues between the West trying to strengthen the NATO alliance and Russia trying to stop it.
