Kovid spreads sharply; Restrictions tightened in Thiruvananthapuram, do not gather | Covid in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: A decision has been taken to tighten restrictions in the wake of the spread of Kovid in the district. The ministers also directed the police officials to take steps to prevent the gathering of the public, including crowds, in the event of a daily increase in the Kovid spread rate.

Restrictions on weddings and funerals will be tightened. Police surveillance will be tightened to ensure that the number of participants does not exceed 50. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by the district collector and attended by Food and Public Distribution Minister GR Anil and Transport Minister Antony Raju.

The ministers suggested that the restrictions imposed in the district should not be compromised in the event of a TPR rate of 48 per cent. The district currently has 35 Kovid clusters, including hospitals and colleges. There are 7 CFLTCs in operation. People need to be extra vigilant when it comes to Kovid victims, including health workers. The meeting also requested to co-operate by avoiding unnecessary trips.

Crowds are not allowed in malls and businesses. He directed the concerned officials to ensure that the restrictions imposed by the district administration are strictly adhered to. The meeting was also attended by Thiruvananthapuram Mayor Arya Rajendran, District Commissioner of Police, Rural Superintendent of Police, District Medical Officer and district level officials from various departments including Revenue.
