‘KSFDC Delays Film Release’; Director of the film ‘Divorce’

Criticism against the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC) ‘Women Directors’ Cinema’ project. The film director who directed the film as part of the project has now come out with a critic. It is alleged that KSFDC is deliberately delaying the theatrical release of the film directed by him. The Director Mini IG has come out against KSFDC. Mini directed the film ‘Divorce’ under the Directors’ Women Film Project.

His film was completed before the Nishisho film. But now Nishiddo has come to the exhibition. Now they are trying to spread the word that the first film made as part of the project was Nishisho. KSFDC had announced several dates for the release of his film. But later all these dates were changed, said the Mini IG.

His film was the first to be completed and censored. But now Mini has been accused of neglecting the film out of personal enmity.

In 2019, KSFDC planned the project by announcing support for film initiatives of women directors. For this, the directors were first asked to send scripts. From around 60 screenplays, two films called Nishido and Divorce were selected for production. KSFDC provided assistance of Rs 1.5 crore for each project.

However, KSFDC Managing Director N Maya told The New Indian Express that all the allegations made by Mini are baseless. They also explained that the corporation has not shown any bias towards the two films selected in the project and their directors.

The film cannot be released in the current situation only due to non-availability of theatres. The first film selected in the project is Nishido. He has done the filming and other tasks very well. It has also received praise from many quarters. They have set certain standards. That is why it was decided to release Nishisho first. Mini was convinced of it when he talked about it. Mini movie will definitely be released. But N Maya also said that as producers, KSFDC has some restrictions to release the two films together.

He also said that four more films are being prepared for release. The managing director said that the films will be released individually and that there is no basis to the current allegations.
