Riot officially announced today that the “League of Legends” 2022 MSI Mid-Season Invitational will start in Busan, South Korea on May 10. This is the first time that the MSI will be held in South Korea and will bring together the best teams from 11 different regional leagues. Compete for MSI Championship glory.
Riot pointed out that the “League of Legends” Mid-Season Invitational will be held in Busan from May 10 to May 29, and teams from 11 different regions will compete against each other in the group stage, the top 6 matchup and the knockout stage. The group stage of the Mid-Season Invitational Tournament and the top 6 competition will be held at the Busan Film Center, while the top four teams will play in the knockout stage at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center. Among them, the Independent National Association LCL Division (CIS) will not participate in this MSI Mid-Season Invitational because of the cancellation of the Spring Division in this division.

The official said that MSI will hold group matches from May 10th to 15th. Teams will be drawn into three groups, of which two groups will have four participating teams, and the remaining group will have only three participating teams. Each group will have a double-round BO1 battle.
From May 18th to 22nd, the top two teams in each group will enter the stage of the top 6 competition, adopting a double round-robin BO1 battle. As for the four teams before May 27th to 29th, they will enter the knockout stage, and the teams will have a BO5 single-elimination match at this stage. The two winning teams will face off in the Grand Finals, with the winner taking the MSI 2022 title.
“League of Legends” once held the 2014 and 2018 World Series in South Korea. This is the first time that the MSI Mid-Season Invitational is held in South Korea.
