Leckie’s shock to Denmark; Australia lead by one goal

Doha: Australia have a one-goal lead against Denmark in the decisive Group D match. Matthew Leckie scored the goal in the 60th minute. McGree’s ball beat the Danish defenders and the keeper and Leckie netted.

Meanwhile, the first half of the game was a goalless draw. Denmark attacked the Australian post from the first minute of the game. In the 19th minute, Denmark’s Joachim Mehla’s cross hit Souther’s body and was expected to be an own goal, but goalkeeper Ryan saved Australia by making a crucial save. Denmark continued to attack but could not find the goal.

There were a few golden opportunities to attack back, but it all ended without Denmark testing goalkeeper Schennmeckle. Denmark also dominated possession. Denmark will be eliminated if they do not win the match. But a draw can keep Australia’s pre-quarter hopes alive. Australia’s hopes before the quarter hinge on the outcome of the France-Tunisia match if they draw.

France are currently top of Group D with six points from two games. Australia is second with 3 points, followed by Denmark and Tunisia with one point each.
